Tonight we’re going to finish the block!
You should have thirty 21/2” x 5” rectangles left from Fabric 1 and 3. (If you are assembling individual blocks, you’ll have two pieces left.)
Get the 21/2” squares of Fabric 1 out of the baggie. Sew this square to the 21/2” x 5” rectangle, then sew another rectangle to the square. (This row should be in the following order: Fabric One 21/2” x 31/2” rectangle sewn to Fabric 3 square, sewn to Fabric One 21/2” square, sewn to Fabric 3 square, sewn to Fabric One 21/2” x 31/2” rectangle.) The completed row should be 121/2” wide by 21/2”.
Take this row and sew it to the row containing the speed blocked triangles
The 21/2” x 121/4” row is sewn to the bottom of this so that the Fabric 1 square is directly under the center square in Fabric 3 above.
Sew another speed blocked triangle row to the bottom of the 21/2”
x 121/4” row in the same manner.
Our block is done! I put sashing between blocks and around the
edges of the quilt. I used Fabric 3 between blocks and rows.
The outside sashing is one row of Fabric 2.
The owner of this Lover’s Knot quilt block is Marcia, who has a website
called The Quilter’s Cache at http://members.xoom.com/Dancesonair/.
Marcia kindly allowed me to change her quilt directions and use her graphics
for these quilt chats. The Quilter’s Cache is a marvelous website
full of quilt block directions, and I’d strongly urge you to visit.
Marcia has an alphabetized list of the quilt blocks; you can see the completed
Lover's Knot 1 quilt there. Thanks Marcia!!
